Milwaukee, WI – On September 30, 2025, Michael Driscoll, a teacher at Milwaukee’s Bay View High School, was honored with a $100,000 Grant Award from Harbor Freight Tools. The Award recognizes “outstanding skilled trades teachers in U.S. public high schools.” This year, there were over 1,000 applicants and the Industrial Technology teacher was one of five teachers selected for this honor.

In his application, Mr. Driscoll said, “The essence of teaching skilled trades lies in witnessing the transformative journey of students as they evolve from passive consumers to active creators. There is joy in creating something from nothing, and it is a joy that I get to pass on to each student that enters my class. It is empowering, and enriching to be part of that kind of journey and metamorphosis in a person’s life.”

Director O’Halloran could not have been more proud. She shared the following statement, “Bay View High School has a distinguished legacy of graduating heroes and leaders. This generation of Redcats is poised to follow in their footsteps because of dynamic staff like Mr. Driscoll. Thank you to Harbor Freight for recognizing Mr. Driscoll’s commitment to his students’ success and their generous investment in the engineering program at Bay View High School.”

Join us in congratulating Mr. Driscoll and the entire Redcat community and in expressing our sincerest gratitude to Harbor Freight Tools.
