The City of Milwaukee is ready to tip off the holiday season with its 111th Annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, December 5 on the plaza at Fiserv Forum in Cheer District, presented by the We Energies Foundation. The holiday fun will begin at 5:00 p.m., culminating with the tree lighting program at 6:00 p.m.

“Our city is renowned for festivals and celebrations, and for more than a century, the lighting of our Christmas tree has brought Milwaukee residents together,” Mayor Cavalier Johnson said. “I’m so pleased the great team of partners has, once again, joined to make the 2024 Christmas Tree lighting a memorable and spectacular event.”

The City of Milwaukee City Christmas Tree in Cheer District, presented by the We Energies Foundation, will be beautifully decked out in over 5,000 lights and feature over 900 gingerbread, candy cane and other holiday ornaments that will take you back to your childhood. In addition to producing the lighting ceremony, Milwaukee entertaining and style expert David Caruso reached new heights when decorating the magnificent tree. “This year’s tree is an extra big task, and the design will wow spectators when we flip the switch! Although adorned with traditional ornaments, I incorporated my ‘signature style’ to make it unique and reflective of the bold and bright spirit of Milwaukee,” said Caruso.

“We are thrilled to once again partner with the City of Milwaukee to host such a historic event for downtown Milwaukee,” said Michael Belot, Milwaukee Bucks Senior Vice President of Business Operations & Chief Real Estate Development Officer. “The transformation of Deer District into Cheer District, presented by the We Energies Foundation, is the perfect start to the holiday season and we are excited to celebrate the 111th City of Milwaukee Christmas Tree Lighting.”

“We are delighted to brighten the holiday season for our friends and neighbors,” said Beth Straka, President of the We Energies Foundation. “Cheer District has become a special tradition for the We Energies Foundation, and it’s one of many ways we help light up the communities that we are proud and privileged to serve.”

The year’s ceremony will feature a special performance by Guyton Entertainment, showcasing a spectacular 21-piece band.  Other special guests include DJ Shawna, Bango, Dancer, Vixen and Comet of Reindeer Games, and of course Santa Claus himself. The New Fashioned will provide complimentary hot chocolate to guests. The fun doesn’t stop once the Tree Lighting Ceremony is over. Guests are invited to visit Deer District establishments to watch the Packers take on the Lions at 7:15 p.m. in a Thursday Night Football NFC North match-up.

Each year the Milwaukee Department of Public Works Forestry division harvests a Christmas tree donated by a local citizen. This year’s beautiful 64-foot Colorado Blue Spruce was donated by the Yeager family and comes from Alderwoman Sharlen Moore’s, 10th District.
