International Nelson Mandela Day to include free MPM event, admission
International Nelson Mandela Day is recognized on July 18, and this year the Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) is partnering with other community organizations to host a free family-friendly event that includes admission to the museum and the special exhibit, Nelson Mandela: The Official Exhibition.
Alderman Cavalier Johnson, a Mandela Community Council member, is encouraging residents to save the date for this event. “I was honored to serve on the Mandela Community Council with the Milwaukee Public Museum as we worked to bring this special Mandela exhibit to Milwaukee where it has made its United States debut,” he said. “Residents citywide should take advantage of this exhibit being free on July 18, and take the chance to learn about the impact Nelson Mandela has had, and continues to have, on us all.”
Outdoor family-friendly activities will be offered beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, including exhibit-inspired art installations, Mandela Pledge volunteer opportunity ideas, a South African Boot Dance demonstration and more! Additional info can be found on the MPM website.
