Gov. Evers Announces Maj. Gen. Paul E. Knapp to Leave Wisconsin National Guard
Brig. Gen. David W. May to serve as interim adjutant general
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today announced Maj. Gen. Paul E. Knapp will be resigning as Wisconsin’s adjutant general, effective June 6, 2024. As the interview process to select Wisconsin’s next adjutant general is underway, Brig. Gen. David W. May will serve as interim adjutant general, pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 321.10(2).
“Maj. Gen. Knapp joined my administration at the outset of our whole-of-government response to the coronavirus pandemic during a difficult, turbulent time in our state and across the country,” said Gov. Evers. “The people of Wisconsin are grateful for his service over the past four years during some of our state’s most challenging circumstances, as well as his decades of service to our state and country. I wish him and his family well in the future.”
