DPW Responds to 1,000 Wisconsinites Dying from COVID-19
(WISCONSIN) — Today, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement in response to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services report that over 1,000 Wisconsinites have perished from COVID-19:
“Our hearts break for the more than 1,000 Wisconsin families, and all those across the country, who have lost a loved one to COVID-19. The tragedies suffered by Wisconsin families are made even more painful by the fact that they didn’t have to happen. The failures of Donald Trump and Wisconsin Republicans directly worsened this long-predicted crisis. Five months into this pandemic, instead of implementing a comprehensive testing and tracing strategy and a national response based on expert guidance, Trump and Wisconsin Republicans are still ignoring the science. We are still seeing cases spread, hospitals facing shortages of protective equipment, essential workers put in harm’s way, and no end in sight. Wisconsin Republicans have fought every step the governor has taken to try to keep Wisconsinites safe, from overturning his stay-at-home order with no replacement plan, to contemplating striking down the mask mandate, they have continuously put politics over the well-being of the people of the Badger state. To get this pandemic under control, it is an absolute necessity that we elect Joe Biden the next president of the United States and prevent a GOP supermajority in the Wisconsin state legislature.”
