Communication file seeks potential impacts of POTUS executive orders
Members of the Common Council are sponsoring a Council communication file to probe the potential impacts of recent Presidential executive orders on City of Milwaukee operations.
Council File 241577 – assigned to the Steering and Rules Committee – requests ‘Communication from the Department of Administration and the Office of the City Attorney relating to the effect of recent federal executive orders on the ability of the City of Milwaukee to conduct its business.’ Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr., Alderwoman Andrea M. Pratt, and Alderwoman Larresa Taylor are sponsoring the file.
The Council members said a recent barrage of Presidential executive orders has raised “serious potential fiscal and other ramifications that could impact the lives of thousands of Milwaukee residents.”
“It is vitally important for Council members to have the best and most up-to-date information about the potential impacts of the executive orders, and for that we need to hear from our DOA Budget Office, and the Office of the City Attorney, just for starters,” Council Members Coggs, Chambers, Pratt, and Taylor said.
The Council members said key city departments, including Community Development Block Grant Administration, the Department of Public Works, the Environmental Collaboration Office, the Health Department, and the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee “could potentially be impacted by certain executive orders.”
It is expected that the file will be scheduled for a hearing during a Steering and Rules Committee meeting soon.
