Common Council adopts file aimed at enhancing COVID safety protocols in City buildings

By - Nov 3rd, 2021 08:27 am

During yesterday’s meeting of the Common Council, the Council adopted file #210954 – a resolution directing the Health Department and the Department of Public Works to establish COVID-19 safety guidelines for City Hall and the Zeidler Municipal Building. The file was introduced by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs and co-sponsored by Alderwoman Chantia Lewis. The resolution specifically directs the commissioners of both City departments to develop COVID-19 safety guidelines for all indoor spaces within City Hall, the 809 Building and the Zeidler Municipal Building, and submit a report to the Common Council within 90 days of adoption of this resolution on the implementation of the policy.

“With City Hall being open to the public, and having just undertaken items of great public interest like ARPA allocations and the City budget, and with redistricting on the horizon, it is clear we need a written, standardized policy for health guidelines at our City facilities,” said Alderwoman Coggs. “Currently there are recommendations in place, but with the pandemic landscape ever changing consistency and standardization are crucial. All meetings and events open to the public should have the same standards, and I look forward to seeing the implementation of this policy that will benefit our citizens.”
