Century City is Open for Business as Amazon Searches for New Headquarters
Statement from Alderman Khalif J. Rainey
As Amazon continues to search for its new North American Headquarters, I am in agreement with Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett that our city is an ideal location for Amazon’s second North American headquarters. The new headquarters would employ up to 50,000 people and cost about $5 billion to build and operate. The company is accepting proposals through October 19 and will make a decision in 2018.
I would encourage the Mayor to consider District 7’s Century City as a location where we would welcome Amazon with open arms. Our district’s workforce once pushed industry ahead at full force, and our community is a sleeping giant, ready to be put to use and move Amazon’s agenda forward. Amazon, on behalf of District 7 and our entire city, we welcome your business with open arms. Let us show you what we have to offer.
Our residents are skilled and hungry for new opportunities. Milwaukee is open for business and we are ready to demonstrate how strong of a contender we are, and just how friendly we are to new business. Not only do we have the proximity to major shipping, highway routes, an international airport, plus access to major cities, we also have a history of production within our city that is unmatched. Our workforce is chomping at the bit to bring Amazon here.
