Business forum tomorrow to highlight U.S. – Indonesia opportunities
Milwaukee will play host to a business forum tomorrow that will highlight the opportunities for investment in and trade with the Southeast Asian nation.
Following Milwaukee Common Council legislation approving a sister cities relationship with the Indonesian city of Medan in the Sumatra Province, Milwaukee will play host to a business forum tomorrow that will highlight the opportunities for investment in and trade with the Southeast Asian nation.
The Indonesia – U.S. Midwest Business Forum will take place Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, 333 W. Kilbourn Ave. Alderman Joe Davis, Sr., chairman of the city’s Sister Cities Committee, said the forum presents local investors and business people with a unique chance to learn firsthand about the growing opportunities for doing business with Indonesia.
“As Milwaukee’s leaders, we strive to build partnerships that will allow our economy to thrive,” Alderman Davis said. “Establishing a sister cities agreement with Medan is already proving beneficial, and I would urge anyone who has an interest in furthering this dialogue with Indonesia to attend this forum.”
Several high-level officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Investment Coordinating Board and Provincial Government, as well as the country’s private sector, are expected to present at the event. Topics covered in the forum will include manufacturing, agriculture, food, energy, science, technology, infrastructure, healthcare, water technology and other related areas.
The forum is hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce’s World Trade Association and the City of Milwaukee. Mayor Tom Barrett will deliver opening remarks.
