Big Clean MKE to return on Saturday, October 29
Community-based organizations sought to partner in effort
Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II is delighted to announce that after a multi-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Big Clean MKE will return on Saturday, October 29. Big Clean MKE is a citywide clean-up in memory of the Special Enforcement Inspector Greg “Ziggy” Zyszkiewicz, who lost his life during an attempted carjacking robbery while working for the people of Milwaukee in 2017. Big Clean MKE is a great way for neighbors, block clubs and neighborhood groups, churches, business districts and workplaces to get together to beautify Milwaukee and give back to the community.
“Littering remains far too prevalent in our city, which is why we created the Big Clean MKE as a way for residents to come together to beautify their neighborhoods, while also honoring Ziggy Zyszkiewicz who was passionate about improving Milwaukee,” said Alderman Stamper. “The goal of Big Clean MKE is a simple one, to make Milwaukee the cleanest city in the country. To accomplish this we need the support of community organizations and residents from all parts of the city, so I am encouraging anyone interested in participating to reach out today as we work to clean up Milwaukee.”
Any community based organization, block club or neighborhood group that would like to be involved in this year’s Big Clean MKE is encouraged to contact Alderman Stamper’s office at russell.stamper@milwaukee.gov or (414) 286-2659, or contact Events and Outreach Coordinator Deborah Moore at Deborah.Moore2@milwaukee.gov.
