Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II is inviting the community to join him in celebrating the grand opening of Cocina Filipina, the newest restaurant in the 15th Aldermanic District located at 3801 W. Vliet St. The grand opening community block party on Saturday, August 1 will begin at 3 p.m. and run until 8 p.m., and feature a variety of entertainment, Filipino food, and much more.

The celebration will also feature a special pop-up from Ube MKE, serving its signature ube-inspired desserts. Live music throughout the day includes Soul Patrol, Los Tajeda’s, Don & Friends, and Home Going.

“Cocina Filipina launched its food truck business in 2023, and quickly became a fan favorite establishment throughout the city. When the business decided to establish its first brick and mortar, I was thrilled that they were interested in setting up shop in the 15th Aldermanic District,” Alderman Stamper said. “Partners Marilupe Moreno and Edu Guzman are a shining example of perseverance and embody the spirit of small businesses. I hope the community joins me this weekend in celebrating this milestone with them.”

Following the grand opening event, Cocina Filipina will begin daily operations on Sunday, August 2.
