Alderman Russell W. Details on the information sessions:

Wisconsin Black Historical Society
2620 W. Center St.

Recent reports and community feedback have raised serious concerns regarding uneven and disproportionate property tax assessments across Milwaukee neighborhoods.

According to recent data, Milwaukee’s 15th Aldermanic District experienced a 13.06% increase in property assessments — nearly double the citywide average. Alderman Stamper believes residents deserve transparency, fairness, and the opportunity to challenge assessments that appear inaccurate, arbitrary, or unjustified.

“These assessments directly impact families, seniors, working homeowners, and long-term residents who are already struggling with rising costs,” Alderman Stamper said. “When residents see dramatic increases that do not align with the condition, value, or realities of their homes and neighborhoods, they have every right to ask questions and challenge those assessments. These meetings are about education, empowerment, and making sure residents are not navigating this process alone.”

The meetings will provide:

· A districtwide conversation on property assessments

· Information regarding the assessment process

· Guidance on how to file an appeal

· Hands-on support completing appeal paperwork

· Access to realtors, developers, and industry professionals to assist residents

Residents are strongly encouraged to bring:

· Their property assessment notice

· Comparable property information if available

· A laptop or tablet for hands-on filing assistance

“Policy should protect residents, not punish them,” Alderman Stamper said. “We are going to organize, educate, and advocate for fairness and accountability throughout this process.”

Residents interested in attending are encouraged to register using the QR codes on the attached event flyer or contact Alderman Stamper’s office for additional information.
