Aurora Health Care Earns Most “A” Hospital Safety Grades in Wisconsin
11 hospitals receive top marks from Leapfrog; two achieve rare “Straight A” designation
MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Eleven Aurora Health Care hospitals have earned “A” ratings for excellence in patient safety from The Leapfrog Group as part of its Spring 2026 report card. This achievement means Aurora Health Care earned the most top grades out of all Wisconsin health systems.
Among the organization’s 11 hospitals recognized, Aurora Medical Center – Grafton and Aurora Medical Center – Washington County received the elite “Straight A” designation, which is awarded to hospitals that not only received an “A” grade in Spring 2026 but have also sustained an “A” grade for the past five or more grading rounds. This is an accomplishment only 15% of hospitals in the Spring 2026 grading cycle attained.

- Aurora Medical Center – Manitowoc County
- Aurora Medical Center – Summit
- Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area
- Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore
Evaluating nearly 3,000 general hospitals across the country twice each year, The Leapfrog Group utilizes 22 evidence-based measures of patient safety to assign an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade. Analysts take into consideration errors, accidents, injuries, infections and systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

In total, Advocate Health hospitals earned 26 “A” ratings on the Leapfrog Spring 2026 patient safety report card, the highest number of top grades ever received by the health system. This ranks Advocate Health among the top health systems nationally for the number of “A” grades earned.
