AFP-Wisconsin to Legislators: Reject Corporate Welfare
"Taxpayer handouts to corporations are not the solution for providing Wisconsin with a pro-growth business environment that benefits all businesses."
MADISON, WI – Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) State Director today urged state legislators to abandon a pending $100 million subsidy for the company, Kimberly-Clark.
AFP-WI State Director Eric Bott issued the following statement:
“Taxpayer handouts to corporations are not the solution for providing Wisconsin with a pro-growth business environment that benefits all businesses. Although the authors of this legislation are well-intentioned, it is still bad public policy for the government to pick winners and losers in the marketplace. The free-market policies our state has pursued like reducing the tax burden, cutting red tape, and increasing worker freedom is what makes our state such a great place for businesses and workers to thrive. We should not abandon this in favor of creating an unequal playing field that benefits select companies on the backs of taxpayers’ hard-earned money.”
Americans for Prosperity (AFP) exists to recruit, educate, and mobilize citizens in support of the policies and goals of a free society at the local, state, and federal level, helping every American live their dream – especially the least fortunate. AFP has more than 3.2 million activists across the nation, a local infrastructure that includes 36 state chapters, and has received financial support from more than 100,000 Americans in all 50 states.
