Partake in the fun, enjoy great food, experience some hearty competition and create lifelong memories during Homecoming 2016. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2016 Block Party | 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Parking Lot F (across from the Al McGuire Center) Enjoy music, food and friends as we get ready to kick off Marquette Madness. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2016 Blue and Gold Color Run | 11 a.m., Marquette Campus Get ready for a burst of blue and gold as the Marquette Nation takes to the streets of campus for a 5k run and walk. Proceeds from this event will support Marquette’s Midnight Run, a volunteer service program focused on the particular needs of the hungry and homeless people living in the community around Marquette.

12th Annual Panther Prowl 5K

The Panther Prowl 5K is UW-Milwaukee’s premier race event. All proceeds support UWM student scholarships. We hope you will join us for the 12th Annual event and participate in this long-standing tradition at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Registration fee includes a short-sleeved technical shirt, race bib, and entertainment. Stop by the Sponsor Zone area after the race to sample snacks and beverages from local Milwaukee businesses. Milwaukee African Women Association Annual GALA

Theme: "Empower Her Periods" It is a fundraising event to support the girls of Bomet County in the Republic of Kenya so they may have sanitary pads during their monthly periods and be able to go to school. Studies have shown that a significant number of girls miss school during menstruations due to lack of sanitary pads. It is estimated that 10% to 20% of school days are lost every year, girls opt to stay home during their periods every month as a way of protecting themselves from humiliation and bullying that come from their colleagues when they have accidents.

Enderis Park Harvest Fest

To celebrate the success of the inaugural Enderis Park Farmers Market and the opening of a brand new playground, the Enderis Park Neighborhood Association is hosting a special event. The first annual Harvest Fest will take place at Enderis Park on Sunday, October 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. At the event, you’ll be able to peruse pumpkins and fall produce and treats while enjoying harvest-themed games, crafts and other family-friendly activities, live acoustic music and more. We’ll also dedicate our exciting new tot lot at the fest. Bring your own pumpkins to paint and decorate, purchase them from our local partner Sentry on 71st and Lisbon or pick up pumpkins right at the event from our farm vendors. There’s no Packers game that day, so make sure you stop by for lots of harvest-themed fun!

Autumn Celebration at the Urban Ecology Center

Free annual Autumn Celebration this Saturday, October 29th from noon until 4 p.m. Come celebrate a beautiful autumn in Washington Park! Join us for fall food and drinks, pumpkin carving, giant leaf piles, autumn crafts, and entertainment and fun for all ages! The festival will be bursting with autumn-inspired free food, especially caramel apples and apple cider. Pies made by neighborhood kids and volunteers from Community Pie will also be served. Attendees can also learn how to make their own apple cider during a demonstration. The festival also has an early edition, Autumn Celebration for Afternoon Nappers, which runs from 10:30 am until noon. It's perfect for families with children between 3 and 5 years old who need to play before the afternoon energy crash. The Half and Half Comedy Show is the perfect blend of solo sketch and stand-up comedy. Erin Quinn (sketch) and Tyler Ross (stand up) each bring their unique style of comedy into an enjoyable hour long performance. Their Midwest tour kicks off Saturday, November 5 at Milwaukee's Urban Harvest Brewing Company with an evening of comedy and craft beer. His silly style of comedy is guaranteed to leave you smiling through puns or crazy stories about working at an elementary school. Tyler currently produces a monthly show at the Laugh Factory, What the Hipnonics, which is a hip hop themed game show. Lastly, Tyler has a severe allergy to cats, but he doesnt let that bring him down. Erin Quinn is not determined to become your best friend. She recently won Stage 773's Summer Laugh Battle championship as a solo performer and completed a successful two-week run of her solo show, Woman at Work, at Second City's de Maat Theatre. Prior to focusing on solo material, she worked on two late night sketch/talk shows in Chicago and performed improv with It's Complicated. Lake Lawn Resort to salute veterans with big band tribute and dinner

Lake Lawn Resort will honor those who have served our country with a special USO-style big band tribute on Friday, Nov. 11 from 6:30 to 11 p.m. in Lake Lawn Resort’s Geneva Ballroom. Featuring a dinner and big band performance, as well as displaying WWII memorabilia and equipment, the tribute will offer an unforgettable evening for veterans to meet one another and honor their heroic service. Following the dinner, guests will hop off their seats and dance the night away with classic hits by Ladies Must Swing. Together for over 19 years, the 23-person all female band will feature high-energy performances with nostalgic big band, swing and jazz music. From saxophones, trombones, trumpets and percussion to guitars, bass, piano and vocals, Ladies Must Swing will offer nonstop entertainment for veterans and loved ones to enjoy all evening long.
