Two-Faced Congressman Tom Tiffany Suddenly Wants Peace in Iran…After Five Votes to Keep the War Going and Gas Prices Climbing
MADISON, Wis. — As farmers are headed into harvest season and diesel just hit a new record high in Wisconsin, Congressman Tom Tiffany is trying to hide his record. After months of defending and voting to continue the Iran war that is driving these prices up, now he’s saying it’s time to “wind things down” in Iran. He said something similar in May, only to turn around a few hours later and vote to continue the war.
Let’s be clear: Tom Tiffany didn’t have a change of heart, he just knows voters are rejecting his toxic record. This is a congressman who has voted with Trump 100% of the time — and he’s not about to start breaking from him now, no matter what he tells voters.
But Tiffany doesn’t get to shirk responsibility now. He had five chances to actually end the war — and voted no every time:
- March 5, 2026 — Voted no on H. Con. Res. 38. Failed, 212–219.
- April 16, 2026 — Voted no on H. Con. Res. 40. Failed, 213–214. (Tiffany was the deciding vote)
- May 14, 2026 — Voted no on H. Con. Res. 75. Failed, 212–212. (Tiffany was the deciding vote)
- June 3, 2026 — Voted no on H. Con. Res. 86. Passed anyway, 215–208.
- July 23, 2026 — Voted no on H. Con. Res. 89. Passed anyway, 214–208.
Tiffany previously called the war “the right thing to do.” On the morning of the May 14 vote, Tiffany told a podcast it was “time to wrap up the war” and “come back home” — then, hours later, cast the tie-breaking vote to keep it going. He’s even admitted that the war is driving prices up, and is treating this issue like a political scoreboard, not a crisis: “Especially with the Iran conflict going on, gas prices have gone up… but we’re seeing that Democrats are not benefiting from it.”
“Congressman Tom Tiffany didn’t think this war was a problem until gas prices made it a problem for him,” said Emily Stuckey, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. “He had five chances to actually end this war, and he chose Trump every single time. Wisconsinites are the ones who’ve been paying more at the pump for it — and they’re not buying his sudden change of tune.”
