Ald. Dimitrijevic Issues Objection to Wisconsin Electric Power Company proposal

By - Feb 17th, 2026 04:34 pm

Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic has submitted written testimony in objection to the “Very Large Customer and Bespoke Resources Tariffs” proposed by the Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WEPC) that are currently before the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Wisconsin. The discussion before the PSC comes at a time when We Energies customers have seen rising electric bills over the last two years.

The full written testimony (attached) states, in part, “I come to join my voice to those who believe the currently-proposed Very Large Customer and Bespoke Resources Tariffs are ill-considered, short-sighted, and in need of significant revision prior to adoption. Any rate design that shifts data-center-related costs, or related risk, onto existing residential and small business customers in the City of Milwaukee is something I strongly oppose.”

The written testimony also urges the PSC to ensure several conditions are met. These include that data center customers pay 100% of all incremental and fixed costs required to serve them, with no cost shunted to other customers, and that the PSC adopts enforceable, long-term protections such as binding service agreements aligned with the life of new infrastructure, exit/termination charges, and other safeguards so Wisconsin ratepayers are not left responsible if data center plans change or demand falls.
