MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today announced he has signed Executive Order #284, extending the energy emergency in the state of Wisconsin. Persistent supply challenges caused by a pipeline disruption within the Midwestern pipeline distribution system remain, coupled with a continued high demand for residential heating fuel, including heating oil and propane. Executive Order #284 will support the swift and efficient delivery of these products throughout the state. Executive Order #284 replaces Executive Order #283 signed by Gov. Evers on Dec. 22, 2025.

“The health and safety of our neighbors remains our top priority, and these folks depend on access to these essential resources,” said Gov. Evers. “By extending this emergency order, we’re keeping these fuels moving to those who need it and ensuring Wisconsinites remain warm and safe this winter.”

According to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin’s Office of Energy Innovation, multiple suppliers report continued challenges obtaining needed products, citing further driving distances that cause further delays.

Executive Order #284 extends the waiver of certain state and federal hours of service and state weight limit restrictions, allowing suppliers to get caught up from the pipeline and weather-related delays. The waiver remains in effect through Feb. 2, 2026, or as long as drivers transporting residential heating fuel are responding to the emergency, whichever is shorter.
