The Other PBR Comes To Milwaukee
Professional Bull Riders storm into town. Plus: Find a deal at Destash.
Milwaukee is thawing, and if you find time in between tidying up your backyard and getting your car washed, there’s lots to do in Milwaukee this weekend. Scope out the car of your dreams at the Milwaukee Auto Show, an event that will take over an entire floor of the Baird Center and fill it with the newest cars, vans, hybrids and more. Some of the world’s best bull riders will compete for the number one spot at Fiserv Forum, and Destash will give local makers the chance to sell some of their slightly flawed products at a discounted rate.
February 27-March: ‘The Book of Mormon’
Dubbed “the best musical of the century” by The New York Times, The Book of Mormon is a hilarious musical that follows an unlikely pair of missionaries as they spread the Good Word in a remote Ugandan village. The musical is running at the Marcus Performing Arts Center, and will have performances on Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Marcus Performing Arts Center’s website.
February 27-March 30: ‘Romeo and Juliet’
Experience the classic Shakespeare play in a whole new way in this reimagining of Romeo and Juliet, where drama unfolds between mountain communities in Appalachia. This rendition was adapted and directed by Laura Braza and is running at the Wilson Theater at Vogel through the month of March. February 28: Red Maple Second Anniversary Party
Red Maple, the Bay View bar that offers Japanese cocktails, beer and sake (and occasionally food) is celebrating its second anniversary. The bar will offer free food and drink specials and Subspace will play live music. Food will be available at 7 p.m. and live music will start at 9 p.m.
February 28-March 2: Milwaukee Auto Show
Your dream vehicle just might become a reality when you check out the Milwaukee Auto Show, an event featuring hundreds of new and exotic vehicles from 24 different automakers. This year, the entire show will take place on one floor of the Baird Center, which will fit nearly 100 cars as well as other entertainment options. Aside from scoping out your next ride, guests can enjoy a mini-golf course and play with adoptable puppies courtesy of the Rescue Gang and Washington County Humane Society. The Milwaukee Auto Show will run from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased on the Milwaukee Auto Show’s website.
March 1-2: PBR (Professional Bull Riders)
PBR (Professional Bull Riders) will Unleash the Beast at Fiserv Forum for an event that will put the Top 40 bull riders to the test in a man versus bull showdown. The top 12 athletes at the end of the Sunday’s show will advance to the championship for a chance to win the title. Tickets to the event vary and price and include a VIP option with premium seats and an on-site concierge. The event will begin at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday and at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday. March 2: 10th Annual Destash Event
Destash is celebrating its tenth annual event, where 115 local makers will do some spring cleaning and sell their slightly flawed, out of season and overstock items at discounted prices. Shop anything from ceramics, clothing, soaps and more. This year, Destash is being held at the Bavarian Bierhaus and the restaurant will be open to the public serving its full menu. The first 400 patrons through the door will receive a hand-decorated shopping tote as well as a complimentary bloody mary, mimosa or coffee.
