Fire Station 31 Reopens on Milwaukee’s South Side

By - Jan 8th, 2025 11:06 am

Today Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic joined Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Fire Chief Aaron Lipski for the reopening of Fire Station 31 at 2400 S. 8th St. Previously closed since December 2017, Station 31 is reopening with funding from the 2025 City budget, and will provide enhanced fire and emergency medical support services to neighborhoods throughout Milwaukee’s South Side.

Alderwoman Dimitrijevic, whose district houses Station 31, is delighted to see the return of these crucial services. “Budget cuts in previous years placed strain on our fire and emergency response services, but now with our city in a stronger fiscal position, we can return these life-saving services to the areas that will greatly benefit from them,” she said. “Having this station operating once again can mean the difference of minutes in response times which are invaluable to my district and our city.”

“We also cannot state enough the impact of a fire station in the community. As healthcare and insurance corporations divest from this city, we remain committed to investing in public health. Our firefighters are essential ambassadors who not only risk their lives to save others, but also install free smoke alarms, teach children how to make safe choices, and much more,” Alderwoman Dimitrijevic said.
