Supervisor Vincent Applauds Funding Approval for Scout Lake Pavilion, Parking Lot Projects
MILWAUKEE – On Thursday, November 9, 2023, the Board of Supervisors adopted Milwaukee County’s 2024 Budget, which included the design and planning for critical improvements to Scout Lake Park. Supervisor Kathleen Vincent, a staunch supporter of these enhancements, issued the following statement:
“I am absolutely thrilled about the recent approval of funds for the design phase of the Scout Lake Pavilion, pathway, and parking lot improvements. Scout Lake Park holds a special place in my heart. It’s a place where I’ve taken numerous educational trips and I’m genuinely excited about the possibilities these upgrades bring for the community. The pavilion is truly unique, offering space for gatherings, events, and educational activities.
As a child, Scout Lake was both my winter wonderland for ice skating and a place to hang out with friends. Today, it continues to be a source of joy and inspiration for myself, neighbors, and local youth alike. I believe in the potential of this park to serve as a hub for various activities that bring the community together. These enhancements will not only preserve the structural integrity of the pavilion, but will also open doors for diverse uses, ensuring that Scout Lake remains a cherished and accessible space for generations to come.”
Scout Lake Park is located at 5902 W. Loomis Rd., Greendale, WI, and is home to a pavilion on the southern shore, a picnic area, and an extensive trail system. It is also the only natural inland lake in the Milwaukee County Parks System.
The 2024 capital budget allocates $100,000 for the Scout Lake Pavilion’s roof replacement project and $92,630 for the Scout Lake parking lot project.
