Big Clean MKE returns to beautify neighborhoods citywide on April 22

Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II is inviting residents throughout Milwaukee to join the Big Clean MKE this Saturday, April 22. The Big Clean MKE is a citywide clean-up in memory of the Special Enforcement Inspector Greg “Ziggy” Zyszkiewicz, who lost his life during an attempted carjacking robbery while working for the people of Milwaukee in 2017. The Big Clean MKE is a great way for neighbors, block clubs and neighborhood groups, churches, business districts, and workplaces to get together to beautify Milwaukee and give back to the community.

“Since the Big Clean MKE began I have said time and time again that I have one simple goal – to make Milwaukee the cleanest city in the country. Neighborhoods and blocks that are clean are more appealing and beneficial for everyone, so I’m asking residents to join us this Saturday to help make our city a cleaner place for all to enjoy,” Alderman Stamper said.

Neighborhood clean-ups will begin at 11:30 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. at various sites across the city. Those interested in participating can reference the attached list of organizations for more info, or visit Milwaukee.gov/bigcleanmke. All clean-up tools and supplies will be provided to volunteers, and many clean-up hosts will offer a volunteer appreciation lunch following the clean-up. Event sponsors include the City of Milwaukee, Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful, WestCare Wisconsin, Bader Philanthropies, Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II, Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, Alderman José G. Pérez and Alderman Robert J. Bauman.
