Get Free Tickets to ‘Where the Waters Meet’ Exhibit
Two tickets with a $14 value to Historical Society exhibit for Urban Milwaukee members.
Milwaukee has always been a city defined by its connection to water. It’s in the city’s very name, with Milwaukee (or millioke) in Algonquian translating to “gathering place by the water.”
In the 19th century, Milwaukee relied on its rivers and Lake Michigan for everything from ice harvesting to shipping. In the 21st century, Milwaukee’s relationship with the water has taken an increased focus on recreation and undoing the environmental damage from the 20th century.
A new exhibit at the Milwaukee County Historical Society, “Milwaukee: Where the Waters Meet,” puts the spotlight on Milwaukee’s past and present connection to water. From the sinking of the Lady Elgin to brewing beer, the exhibit has it all.
While supplies last, Urban Milwaukee members and a guest can see the exhibit for free (a $14 value). Tickets must be claimed online in advance and are extremely limited. Get yours now.
And while we can’t get everyone in the door for free, we also have a much larger supply of buy-one-get-one-free admission passes for members (a $7 value). Claim yours today.
The in-person exhibit, on display at MCHS’ historic downtown building, is available for viewing Wednesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The interactive exhibit promises to be both fun and educational. Visitors also have access to the research library and permanent exhibits. A series of free, online programs related to the water exhibit are also planned.
To maintain social distancing and reduce the spread of COVID-19, the society is restricting the total number of people allowed to browse the exhibit at one time. Masks, under city ordinance, are required at all times. More information on safety protocols are available by contacting MCHS at 414-273-8288 or info@milwaukeehistory.net.
MCHS is located in the former Second Ward Savings Bank at 910 N. Old World Third St.
