On Tuesday, January 19, File #201218 was approved by the Common Council which officially establishes January 30th, 2021 as MKE Business Now Entrepreneurship Summit Day in the City of Milwaukee. The MKE Business Now Entrepreneurship Summit is held to support the growth of local entrepreneurship and help innovators stimulate economic development, neighborhood reinvestment and job creation. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held virtually this year and will include workshops to educate budding entrepreneurs about the resources available to help them become successful in their business endeavors. The event is sponsored by the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District and the City’s Office of Equity and Inclusion.

The resolution was sponsored by Alderwoman Miele A. Coggs, who also hosts the annual event. “The MKE Business Now Entrepreneurship Summit has successfully connected aspiring entrepreneurs with valuable city resources, business startup workshops and mentorship from established business professionals for nine consecutive years, and it is exciting to see the event returning in 2021,” Alderwoman Coggs said. “I encourage any Milwaukee residents looking to learn about entrepreneurship or business development to attend the events of the day as it could be the start of a new locally operated Milwaukee business.”

This year’s summit will be streamed live on the City Channel (channel 25 on Spectrum Cable and channel 99 on AT&T U-Verse in the City of Milwaukee) and via streaming video on the city website at city.milwaukee.gov/Channel25. Additional information on workshops will be forthcoming, and resource packets will be available at select Milwaukee Public Library branches.
