Press Release: Gov. Evers Orders Flags to Be Flown at Half-Staff as a Mark of Respect for Peace Officers Who Have Given Their Lives in the Line of Duty
MADISON – Gov. Tony Evers today issued Executive Order #24 for the flags of the United States and the state of Wisconsin to be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect for peace officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.
Executive Order #24:
- Orders flags to be lowered to half-staff on Fri., May 10, 2019, beginning at sunrise and ending at sunset on that date, to honor fallen officers who, in 2018, gave their lives in the line of duty; and
- Orders flags to be lowered to half-staff on Wed., May 15, 2019, beginning at sunrise and ending at sunset on that date, to honor Peace Officers Memorial Day, in recognition of peace officers who have given their lives in the line of duty; and
- Authorizes flags to be lowered to half-staff during public ceremonies for the purpose of honoring peace officers who have given their lives in the line of duty, beginning at sunrise and ending at sunset on any day between Sun., May 12, 2019, to Sat., May 18, 2019, in recognition of Police Week.
