Election Delivers New Leadership for NAACP Wisconsin State Conference
Sturtevant, WI, November 12, 2019 – Members and voting delegates representing the local Wisconsin (Beloit, Dane County, Milwaukee, Ozaukee County, Racine and Waukesha County) NAACP Branches gathered at Gateway Technical College in Sturtevant, WI for their Annual Training Meeting and election of state officers. The training meeting, led by Dr. Jerome Reide, NAACP Regional Director, focused on best practices for generating greater voter registration and voter participation in the 2020 election cycle. In addition, 2019 is the Wisconsin State Conference election year, and branch delegates cast their votes for new Wisconsin State Conference leadership. Results are below.
2020-2022 State Conference Leadership
President: Wendell J. Harris, Sr. – President, NAACP Waukesha County & NAACP Region 3 National Board Representative
1st Vice President: Gregory C. Jones – President, NAACP Dane County
2nd Vice President: Mary Walker – Member, NAACP Milwaukee & former WI State Conference 1st Vice President
3rd Vice President: Devin Anderson – Member, NAACP Racine
Secretary: Jeanne F. Erickson – Secretary, NAACP Dane County
Assistant Secretary: Connie Cobb Madsen – Member, NAACP Racine
Treasurer: Yolanda Adams – NAACP Racine & former Acting WI State Conference Treasurer
All officers will serve two-year terms, and transition planning will begin immediately including appointment of an Assistant Treasurer and Committee Chairs. Incoming President Harris has pledged to uphold the mission of the NAACP, and expand the organization’s presence throughout Wisconsin.
