MATC Gingerbread Houses Win Awards
Displayed at Public Market, made by baking and pastry arts students. Take a look.
MATC students lined the top floor of the Milwaukee Public Market with beautiful, frosted gingerbread houses.
The gingerbread houses were on display from December 1 to 12. The public could vote for the “People’s Choice” scholarship winner and also bid on the houses in a silent auction with proceeds going to other scholarships. Industry professionals also came to judge the houses for design and quality. The Wisconsin Bakers Association offered $1,500 in prizes as well as medals to winning students, who come from the baking and pastry arts associate degree program as well as the baking production diploma program at MATC.
Entrants included two houses based on the flying home from Pixar’s movie Up as well as a re-creation of the restaurant from Bob’s Burgers. Some of the houses even included lights.
Fun stuff. Our photo gallery includes all of them.
