Kimberly-Clark Employees Remind Us Why Bailout Is A Bad Idea
"Wisconsin taxpayers should not be a bargaining chip in a negotiation between a private company and its union."
MADISON — A MacIver News Service article highlights a Kimberly-Clark corporate insider who says the company’s Neenah Cold Spring facility is profitable and that the proposed incentives are “legalized extortion.”
As a follow-up to the story, MacIver Institute President Brett Healy issued the following statement:
“Wisconsin taxpayers should not be a bargaining chip in a negotiation between a private company and its union. The misgivings these employees have expressed is further evidence that the proposed incentives package is a bad idea and poor public policy. The fact that taxpayers might be asked to bail out a profitable operation only confirms why Wisconsin should not pursue this strategy.”
