Nomad Biergarten (Finally) Opens
The patio opened just in time for the USA soccer match on Friday June 3rd after a frenetic opening schedule.

After two years and several renditions of building designs and indoor/outdoor spaces, Nomad owner Mike Eitel finally unveiled a “temporary” biergarten for the summer of 2016.
Eitel, who ran into various design problems, cost issues, and ultimately a stalemate with zoning conflicts, decided to clean up the lot he had purchased for an addition and instead put in a biergarten that will host soccer lovers and patio seekers this summer. He refers to the biergarten as a tropical garden patio but says it’s “an identifiably urban space with a twist of beach town vibe.”
The patio opened just in time for the USA soccer match on Friday June 3rd after a frenetic opening schedule. “We were hoping to get something a bit more grand done but ran into snags with zoning that would have prevented us from opening in time for the start to summer and all of the soccer tourneys this month”, Eitel said. “Luckily, the city officials at DNS and our alderman really went to great lengths to help make this happen when that plan fell through” he continued.
Work is ongoing due to the speed with which it went together but the intimate space includes a bar, dozens of tropical plants, string festoon lights, and bright colors that may remind people of the “Favela” tribute Eitel built for the 2014 World Cup that drew international attention.
Eitel plans to work on finishing touches after Nomad’s first block party of the tournaments. “Futbolfest” runs from 11am-11pm on Saturday, June 11 and features a Jumbotron TV for the EURO and COPA matches along with DJ Marcus Doucette and a Belair food tent.
