Assembly Approves Five Rep. Neylon Bills
Last week the Wisconsin State Assembly passed five pieces of legislation authored by State Representative Adam Neylon.
Madison – Last week the Wisconsin State Assembly passed five pieces of legislation authored by State Representative Adam Neylon (R-Pewaukee). Rep. Neylon had the following comments on the bills:
AB 251 – State REINS Act “This bill is both common sense and substantial. It restores power to the legislature by disallowing state agencies to promulgate rules that have a cost of compliance for businesses that exceeds $10 million to be enacted without legislative support, and provides additional opportunities for public feedback on new proposed agency rules.”
AB 722 – Parent-Based School Accountability “Parents are the ultimate form of local control. Simply put, I trust parents to make the right decision about where to send their children to school. This common sense legislation requires schools to provide a link on their public website to the most recent DPI School Report Card. These objective reports provide exactly the type of information parents look for when deciding where to send their children.”
AB 665 – Wisconsin Robotics League “AB 665 creates a pilot program that will provide grants to high school robotics teams. The idea is to encourage more teams to participate in these robotics competitions. Teams could qualify for up to $5,000 to help pay for expenses like robotics kits and paying a coach or mentor. The bill is capped at $250,000 and requires matching private funds. Robotics education and other S.T.E.M. curriculum is essential if we’re serious about preparing our students for the jobs of tomorrow.”
AB 745 – Stop Trafficking Vulnerable Youth Act “AB 745 improves communication between law enforcement and child welfare agencies to help locate missing children and hopefully protect them from things like child trafficking. Because of the sensitive nature of privacy rights for children in state care, currently there are barriers to efficiently sharing helpful information – like a photo – between law enforcement and child welfare agencies. This bill removes those barriers and provides law enforcement additional tools to locate and return our most vulnerable youth.”
AB 486 – Seeds for Growth Act “The Seeds for Growth Act does three things: promotes new private investments in Wisconsin startup companies all around the state through regional fund managers, increases the Badger Fund of Funds ability to raise private capital by offering additional tax credits on private investment, and caps private investment eligible for new tax credits at $15 million. This bill will make Wisconsin more competitive in attracting new business to Wisconsin.”
