Milwaukee showed up for its champions Friday, turning Downtown into a celebration of the Milwaukee Brewers’ remarkable season. The Oct. 30 rally brought together longtime fans, families, players and anyone ready to bask in a title Milwaukee has waited decades to celebrate. Amid the cheers, music and sea of blue and gold, a few moments stood out. Here are seven things we liked about the championship rally, from the big crowd energy to the small details that made the celebration feel distinctly Milwaukee.

1. The Uecker Connection

Bob Uecker clearly meant something to those who met him. Uecker, who died in January 2025, was very much part of the parade. The parade route literally detoured to see his 100-foot-tall mural, but it wasn’t just a symbolic gesture. Parade buses would pause in front of the mural, and several players got off their bus to take photos with the mural. He was also cited repeatedly at the rally, with his family looking on. His own motorcycle was ridden onto the stage by Robin Yount. You would have needed to be more than “just a bit outside” to escape Uecker’s presence.

2. Sal Frelick‘s Weekend Plans

“I’m going to have a beer for every single person here. I’m going to have 100,000 beers,” proclaimed outfielder Sal Frelick at the rally.

Speaking of which, has anyone seen Frelick recently?

After the Milwaukee Bucks parade in 2021, then-Bucks forward P.J. Tucker announced “we dawgs” and could be found at The Harp and other Water Street bars. Let’s start there in the search for the meme-friendly Frelick.

3. Miz Catching and Chugging

Jacob Misiorowski is not just great at throwing baseballs. He is also great at catching beers. The Miz effortlessly grabbed and chugged a 12-ounce Miller Lite can thrown by a fan during the parade.

4. This Man Could Win Every Halloween Contest

Unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name, but one fan came to the rally dressed as the Commissioner’s Trophy. He would win every costume contest he enters this weekend.

The only thing stopping him could be what’s next…

5. Aaron Ashby and His Doppelganger

Aaron Ashby, meet Aaron Ashby. Tim Crispy dressed up as Ashby, with a fake security guard in tow, and followed the reliever along the parade route. He confused a few photographers during the rally, who seemed not to question why a baseball player would walk around with a glove on. Crispy, still sporting the uniform, glove, beard and glasses, was able to meet with Ashby after the rally. Ashby, who earlier said it was the best day of his life, seemed to enjoy every moment, even more than Crispy.

6. Daniel Vogelbach Performing Karaoke

Did you know who the Brewers’ hitting coach was before today? Did you know he knows every word to the hit 2003 song “Stacy’s Mom” by Fountains of Wayne? Now you do, and so do hundreds of thousands of other people.

7. The Hustlers

Either the Milwaukee skyline tripled in size this week or the unlicensed t-shirt seller economy has been flooded with AI slop. T-shirts depicted a Milwaukee skyline that included One World Trade Center and a host of other clearly not-in-the-city buildings, but alas, it’s always amusing to see what the t-shirt sellers have cooked up (and how fast their prices come crashing down). T-shirts that were $20 each going into Henry Maier Festival Park were $10 coming out. They’ll be three for $20 in gas station parking lots across the city by the end of the week. Get yours for the memories, just make sure someone spell-checked the roster.

8. The Joy

Everywhere you turned Friday, there were people celebrating on the streets of downtown Milwaukee. Families at their first parade. Longtime fans who remembered 1982, some who even remember 1957. People were quick to share their stories of how they drove back from college in Iowa or called in sick to work. If only we could find that joy more often.
