The Pure Farce of “Noises Off”
Photos capture the fast moving comedy’s antic style.
Playwright Michael Frayn’s “Noises Off” is a comedy about a second-rate troupe of players staging a sex farce, and encountering increasing problems — of a quite farcical nature — performing the play.
The critics seem to love it. Jim Higgins of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel called it “a lively production” that offers “a primer of comic styles.”
OnMilwaukee.com critic Dave Begel lauds the show as having “everything that a great ballet has, except the music.”
And Shepherd Express critic Russ Bickerstaff says “the Rep’s Noises Off is as effective a production of the comedy as one is likely to see.”
Feel free to share your view in the comments section if you’ve seen the show. Our photos below capture the action.
“Noises Off” runs through Dec. 22, at the Quadracci Powerhouse Theater, 108 E. Wells St., milwaukeerep.com.
