Central Standard Craft Distillery is spreading its wings, with plans to open a second location at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport this fall, according to a news release.
The new Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen will occupy 1,069 square feet within Concourse C, featuring 51 seats, plus a menu of cocktails and best-selling dishes from the flagship location at 320 E. Clybourn St.
“The Airport is an incredible partner to work with and we couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity,” said Evan Hughes, co-founder of Central Standard Craft Distillery, in a statement. “Whether travelers are arriving or departing, we want to create a memorable first impression of the city and share the craft quality that defines us.”
Central Standard made its Milwaukee debut in 2014, specializing in bourbon, whiskey, vodka and gin made with locally sourced ingredients like Door County cherries and honey from Germantown. Its decade-long tenure has come with both local and national accolades.
“The craftsmanship that defines our downtown experience will soon be right at the departure gate, making this a pivotal moment for us,” said Jim Kanter, chief commercial officer at Central Standard Craft Distillery, in a statement. “We’re proud to offer an authentic taste of Milwaukee, whether guests are enjoying a handcrafted cocktail at our new location or picking up a bottle to go.”
With the new location, Central Standard will also expand its distribution across bars, restaurants and retail stores within the airport, allowing travelers to experience the city’s craft distilling scene without leaving the building. During the lead-up to its target launch date in September, locals and visitors can purchase Central Standard spirits at various outlets throughout the airport.
Airport Director Brian Dranzik shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming expansion.
“Crafthouse & Kitchen is more than just a restaurant — it embodies the energy and flavor of Milwaukee,” Dranzik said in a statement. “Welcoming Central Standard to the Airport is just the beginning” of efforts overseen by the airport’s concession partner, SSP America, he noted. “We’re excited to continue elevating the MKE Airport experience.”
