Museum Days Offers Cheap Way To Visit 27 Milwaukee Institutions

Plus: MAM After Dark and a sculpture garden winter carnival.

This weekend in Milwaukee is filled with ways to get outdoors and enjoy some art! The Lynden Sculpture Garden is hosting its 13th Annual Winter Carnival, where guests can participate in outdoor winter sports, arts and crafts and more. The Milwaukee Art Museum is inviting guests to come salsa dance after hours, and 27 museums will offer discounted (and sometimes free) admission through February 2.

January 24-March 23: ‘The Woman in Black’

The Woman in Black has been shocking audiences for over 30 years, and now Milwaukee audiences will have the chance to experience the story of a lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes he and his family have been hexed with. Discover the secret behind the specter of the woman in black when you check out this theatrical production at The Milwaukee Repertory Theater, which will run through the end of March. January 24-February 2: Museum Days

In celebration of Museum Days, 27 museums throughout the Milwaukee area will offer discounted admission. Each participating museum will not only offer a discounted admission fee, but will have special programming available. With options ranging between the Milwaukee Public Museum to the national Bobblehead Museum and Hall of Fame, there’s something for every type of curious mind. January 24: 4th Annual Bluegrass Winter Heater

Warm up with some bluegrass at The Cooperage at the 4th Annual Bluegrass Winter Heater. The show will feature performances by four bluegrass artists: Milwaukee favorite Joseph Huber, The Milbillies, Maygen & The Birdwatcher and Valley Fox. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and music will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information, visit The Cooperage’s website.

January 24: MAM After Dark: Salsa Night

For one night, the Milwaukee Art Museum will moonlight as a salsa dancing club for the MAM After Dark: Salsa Night event. Starting at 7 p.m., the museum will reopen its doors for guests interested in salsa dancing the night away to the backdrop of the museum’s historic exhibits. The MAM After Dark events promise live music, immersive performances and artful activations, all in a unique venue. Tickets are $35 at the door or $30 in advance. January 25: Ice Bear Fest

Travel back in time to the ‘80s for Ice Bear Fest, a winter celebration ringing in the release of Third Space Brewing’s Ice Bear Baltic Porter. The brewery will host an ‘80s-themed costume contest, where guests are asked to wear their best ‘80s ski gear and ski boots. The free event will also feature food from Picoi’s Tacos and Tots on the Street, as well as music from DJ Rick and Mixtape, an ‘80s tribute band. The event will run from noon to 7 p.m. at Third Space Brewing. For more information, visit the brewery’s website.

January 25: 13th Annual Winter Carnival

The weather lately hasn’t given Milwaukeeans any good reasons to go outside, but the Lynden Sculpture Garden is changing that this weekend. The 13th Annual Winter Carnival will host outdoor art-making, scavenger hunts, tree walks, workshops, snowshoeing and more. There will be food and hot drinks for sale on site courtesy of Pedro’s South American Food Truck. The event’s activities are scheduled out, so check out the Lynden Sculpture Garden’s website to find out when the activities that interest you are happening. The 13th Annual Winter Carnival will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
