It’s been an eventful week in Milwaukee, but it’s also a holiday weekend — meaning that most folks will hopefully have a little bit of extra time to relax and recover. There’s plenty to do in the meantime, with the Milwaukee Underground Film Festival taking place above Company Brewing, just a week before the full Milwaukee Film Festival begins. There’s a street party celebrating the Joint IPA between Eagle Park Brewing Company and 1840 Brewing, and the Milwaukee County Zoo is celebrating Easter with its annual Egg Day event.

April 15-16: Milwaukee Underground Film Festival

The Milwaukee Underground Film Festival is putting on days two and three of the festival on the upper level of Company Brewing. The festival will feature all-day video installations as well as features from a variety of creatives. The festival appears to have a shipwrecked theme, with videos sectioned into categories like “Buried in Sand” and “Message in a Bottle.” The festival will begin at 6 p.m. on April 15 and at 3 p.m. on April 16. Saturday’s event will end with a performance of “Dada’s Daughter” by Sara Sowell. For more information on films that will be shown, click here.

April 15: Henry Rollins at Turner Hall Ballroom

Whether you love him from his days as a hardcore punk vocalist in Black Flag or just enjoy his more recent writings, spoken word performances and stand-up routines, you’ll be thrilled to know that Henry Rollins is bringing his “Good to See You” tour to Milwaukee at the Turner Hall Ballroom. Rollins promises a night of stories about what he’s been up to, and some weird situations he has found himself in. The show will begin at 8 p.m. For ticket information, click here.

April 16: Egg Day at Milwaukee County Zoo

The Milwaukee County Zoo’s annual Egg Day returns, featuring a Bunny Parade and an assortment of family-friendly activities such as an egg hunt, face painting, a scavenger hunt and more. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. General Admission is $14.75 or $13.75 for seniors 60 and older. Kids aged 3 to 12 years old can enter for $11.75 and kids 2 years old and younger get in for free.

April 16: Joint IPA Street Party

Eagle Park and 1840 Brewing Company have collaborated once again on a Joint IPA, and are celebrating the occasion with a street party outside of 1840 Brewing. Frugal Stu & the Coupons will perform from 4:20 p.m. to 7:20 p.m., and Riley’s Good Dogs will be on deck serving up meat and vegan options all day. The taproom will be reserved for VIP members until 6 p.m., but after that, the Joint IPA is fair game for all. The event will end at 8 p.m.

April 16: Marcus Theatres’ “Hop to the Movies”

Marcus Theatres is bringing back its popular “Hop to the Movies” event — where families will not only get to watch a screening of the children’s movie Hop, but will have the chance to take photos with the Easter Bunny and participate in arts and crafts and an Easter egg hunt. For the unfamiliar, Hop tells the story of a slacker who, after accidentally injuring the Easter Bunny, must take him in and help him recover. The event begins at 9:30 a.m., with the film beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Easter Egg hunt will take place before the screening.

Saturday April 16: Rat Bath at X-Ray Arcade

Milwaukee’s Rat Bath released its debut album Rat From Hell earlier this year, instantly solidifying the band as a Milwaukee country act to look out for. The band shakes up the genre by incorporating elements of punk and rock-and-roll, and consists of all members of the LGBTQ community — something not typically seen in a genre consisting of mostly straight-white males. The band will perform its unique brand of country at the X-Ray Arcade, with a lineup that also features The Antibuddies, Summer Birth and Pescatarian at Best. Admission to the event is $10 if you buy ahead of time, or $12 the day of the show.
