‘Near West Side Dining Day’ Offers Specials, Deals
One-day event takes place Sept. 19, part of larger Near West Side Week.

Diners from across the site will be able to descend on the city’s Near West Side Thursday, Sept. 19 for a smorgasbord of dining deals and specials.
As part of Near West Side Partners’ Near West Side Week, area businesses will celebrate “Near West Side Dining Day” with a variety of discounts, giveaways and special menu items.
Participating restaurants
- Cocina Filipina Fare: free calamansi sangria or NA Beverage with the purchase of any entree
- Daddy’s Soul Food & Grille: free samples of Daddy’s menu throughout the day
- Deco Cafe: 25% off total
- Five O’Clock Steakhouse: stop by Rev-Up MKE to pick up a card for a free drink or dessert with the purchase of an entree
- Fruition MKE: $15 biscuit burger lunch special with tater tots
- Gin Rickey: 25% off total
- Goodway Grille: $2 off 16-inch one-topping pizza
- Miss Katie’s Diner: free eggplant appetizer with the purchase of a sandwich or entree
- Oakberry Acai: 20% off bowls and smoothies, in-store purchases only
- Taco Pros: free chips with salsa, guac or queso with purchase of an entree
Miss Katie’s Diner owner Peter Picciurro said, in a statement, that Near West Side Partners has always supported his restaurant and that “anything we can do together as a neighborhood is wonderful.” The neighborhood mainstay opened in 1985.
Other Near West Side Week events include homebuyer education classes at Concordia 27, 801 N. 27th St., on Sep. 15 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.; and Rev-Up MKE, a small business pitch competition, at The Rave on Sep. 16 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.
According to a press release, “Taste of the Near West Side” is returning to Rev-Up MKE this year, and will feature local cuisine and live entertainment “that reflects the heart of the neighborhood.”
