The 12th annual Milwaukee Pride Parade filled the streets of Walker’s Point with rainbow-colored revelers Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately for an event that has celebrated times of great joy (most notably 2014’s gay marriage ruling), Sunday’s parade came not long after the deadliest mass shooting in United States history took place at a gay nightclub. Floats and parade attendees along the route displayed signs of support for those in Orlando.

Despite the tragedy in Florida, attendees lined the streets in large numbers and parade participants smiled and cheered. In the face of countless hate crimes, the LGBTQ community is notably resilient.

The volunteer-led parade, which ironically has the straightest route of any Milwaukee parade, is operated by the non-profit Milwaukee Pride Parade, Inc. The event is not formally affiliated with PrideFest Milwaukee, although both operate on the same weekend and attendees come and go between the two events.

Looks amazing! Wish I could have attended, but your photos certainly gave me a glimpse of what it was like to be there!
