BB King gets the Riverside Blues, the MSO ends classical season with epic Elgar, fairway farce at Sunset Playhouse, Bay View's Gallery Night, Highland Games in Tosa.

Fore! The Sunset Playhouse will update golf-themed farces from the 1930s and 40s, beginning May 30. Frolic through fairways with high society characters and low brow humor from Ken Ludwig, author of Lend Me a Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo. The Fox on the Fairway runs through June 16, with half price shows on Thursday, May 30 and Wednesday. June 12. All other performances are $22; tickets are available online or by calling 262 782-4430.

Next Act Theatre hosts The Agony and Ecstasy of Steve Jobs, a one-man show on the life of the man who built Apple. Robby McGhee plays Jobs in this bitingly witty show by Mike Daisey. This show examines, in equal parts, the genius and ethics of Jobs and the role of his products in our lives. The Agony and Ectasy of Steve Jobs has been translated into six languages after Daisy’s original run of 200 performances in 18 cities over 19 months. Tickets begin at $15 and are available online. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, and Saturday, June 1, and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2.

BB King will play the Riverside Theater this Friday, May 31 at 7 PM. The blues legend has released over 60 albums in a career reaching back to the 1940s. Tickets are $55 and up; order online or by call 414 286-3205.

Music director Edo De Waart, the Milwaukee Symphony and the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus will bring the classical series of the 2012-13 season to a close this weekend. They’ll  finish big, with Elgar’s magnum opus, The Dream of Gerontius. Mezzo Tamara Mumford, tenor Anthony Dean Griffey and baritone Luca Pisaroni will be featured in this grand oratorio on a mystic poem by Cardinal Newman. Concerts begin at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1 at Marcus Center Uihlein hall. Tickets, $22 and up, are on sale online, at the MSO ticket line (414 291-7605) and the Marcus Center box office, 414 273-7206.

Art 

Bay View Gallery Night is happening 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 31. Almost 50 local vendors will display works by area artists, in addition to hosting events and serving food and drink specials. A complete list of vendor and artists participants can be found online.

Festival season is fast approaching. To kick off the summer of fun, The Milwaukee Highland Games will take place on Saturday, June 1 as part of ScottishFest. The festivities include authentic food, Scottish strength testing games, traditional music, a parade, and visits from working sheep dogs. Tickets are $10 for adults and free to children under twelve or active military personal in uniform. To get a $3 discount on admission, arrive at Hart Park on Chestnut Street in Wauwatosa before 10 a.m. with a non-perishable food donation to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Milwaukee.
