Elton John’s “Billy Elliot” at Uihlein

Marcus Center: Billy Elliot the Musical
This musical adaptation of the award winning 2000 film has been running on Broadway since 2008. With director Stephen Daldry on board and hitmaker Elton John providing the musical’s score, Billy Elliot the Musical aims to “enchant the dreamer in all of us.” The show follows Billy as he stumbles out of
the boxing ring and into a ballet class, where he discovers a surprising talent for dance. that inspires his family and his whole community, and changes his life forever. The national touring show opens Tuesday July 17 at 8 p.m. and runs through Sunday, in Uihlein Hall. For tickets and more information, please visit the Marcus Center website.
Theatre Gigante opens The Dog and Pony Show on Thursday July 19th at 8 p.m. A creation of performance artist and one of the infamous NEA Four Holly Hughes, this “meditation on the midlife crisis” runs for just one weekend Paddy’s Pub, 2339 N. Danceworks presents De Facto Dance in Sell This Room. This improvisational quartet, based in New York, will presents a series of dances that address topics from real estate to marching bands. Starry Nights, the free outdoor series at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, Brookfield, presents Southern Tradition. This Wisconsin band is known for gritty, down-home playing. The group blends elements of Rockabilly, Southern Rock, Outlaw/Classic Country and Today’s Country. The music starts at 6:30 p.m.
