Tony Baez Announces Endorsement From IBEW Local 494
Dr. Baez believes in the promotion of apprenticeships, knowledge of the trades
MILWAUKEE – Dr. Tony Baez, candidate for the 6th district of the Milwaukee Public School Board, today announced the endorsement from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 494.
Dean Warsh, Business Manager for IBEW, said, “We strongly support Dr. Tony Baez in his bid to represent the 6th district of the Milwaukee Public School Board. As a national expert on many of the issues facing MPS, he understands the importance of apprenticeships and knowledge of the trades in public schools. Tony will be a strong advocate for working people and we look forward to partnering with him to create outstanding programs for the next generation.”
Baez said, “As we continue to have conversations across the district, it is clear that families and students are looking for better solutions for MPS and programs that will carry us into the next generation. That is why I am honored to have the support of the working people of IBEW who will work with MPS to develop new and innovative apprenticeships and knowledge of the trades to attain good, family-sustaining jobs. I look forward to this partnership and standing up for the rights of working people across Milwaukee.”
Dr. Tony Baez is currently an education consultant and national expert on bilingual education and the educational issues facing MPS. He holds a Ph.D. in urban education from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and resides on the city’s near south side. The general election is Tuesday, April 4, 2017.
