WLAX Defeats Louisville 13-10 in Home Opener Monday Afternoon

Marquette travels to Cincinnati Thursday

The Marquette University women’s lacrosse team earned a 13-10 win over Louisville in its 2025 home opener to move to 2-0 on the season on Monday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles (2-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) were led by Meg Bireley, who had five goals on a career-high 17 shots with 13 being on goal.

Tess Osburn recorded her second hat trick this season. Hanna Bodner had a career-high five points with one goal and a career-high four assists.

Marquette went into the break up one, 7-6. The Golden Eagles dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 5-2 in the final frame to pull out the win.

The Golden Eagles had 10 caused turnovers and 26 ground balls.

Brynna Nixon earned the win and had eight saves.

Louisville (2-2, 0-0 ACC) was led by Ella Berg, who had three goals and one assist.

NOTABLES:

  • Third win against Louisville in program history in 12 meetings.
  • Meg Bireley had her 14th career game with five-or-more points.
  • Lauren Grady had a career-high two goals.

UP NEXT: Marquette travels to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. CT.
