WisDOT, Brewers Help Fans Navigate Traffic During Construction

MILWAUKEE – As major construction projects continue on I-94 and around American Family Field, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, supported by the Milwaukee Brewers, is providing fans with new tools, information and onsite support to help plan ahead for Opening Day and the 2026 season.

Fans are encouraged to use a new, dedicated WisDOT website designed to serve as the central hub for recommended routes to and from American Family Field. The interactive site, dedicated exclusively to Brewers fans traveling to and from the ballpark, will include routes from each lot from all directions around American Family Field, highlighting alternate routes. Fans can find this site at brewers.com/Traffic, through QR codes throughout American Family Field and will also have access through the MLB Ballpark App.

The Brewers are investing in additional resources to help manage postgame traffic flow. For every home game this season, the team will fund three extra-duty Sheriff squads to help manage outbound event traffic, further supporting WisDOT’s existing traffic mitigation efforts. The Brewers will also pay for an onsite tow service to quickly clear stalled vehicles or accidents from traffic lanes, helping keep vehicles moving whenever possible.

“The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is teaming up with the Milwaukee Brewers to help keep game day travel running smoothly around American Family Field. Throughout the 2026 season, a variety of strategies will be in place to improve safety, keep fans informed and help reduce traffic impacts so getting to and from the ballpark is as easy as possible. Fans are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and check available travel resources before leaving home.” said Jason Roselle, WisDOT Southeast Freeways Construction Chief.

The first set of traffic pattern adjustments will take effect next week when eastbound Interstate 94 reopens to three lanes, providing added capacity for fans traveling to and from the ballpark. All ramps at the General Mitchell Interchange will be open for home games.

“We are working closely with the Department of Transportation to make sure fans have the information and support they need,” said President of Business Operations Rick Schlesinger. “We’re committed to doing our part to make sure the fan experience in arriving and leaving the ballpark is convenient, efficient and safe.”

Additional and enhanced signage showing alternate routes will be installed to better direct traffic, and the team continues to explore creative ways to help manage postgame departures. Those efforts may include optional postgame experiences for fans to allow for progressive egress.

Game‑day parking ingress continues to be supported by the license plate recognition system implemented two seasons ago, which helps streamline entry once fans arrive at the ballpark. Even with efficient parking operations, fans are advised to allow extra time due to construction along Interstate 94 and nearby roadways.
