Van Orden’s campaign website still calls for the repeal of the ACA.

MADISON, Wis. — In response to Rep. Derrick Van Orden doing a complete 180 after years of trying to undermine and defund the Affordable Care Act, Party of Wisconsin Chair Devin Remiker released the following statement:

“DC Derrick has learned how to play swamp games better than anyone, flip-flopping after years of trying to undermine, defund, and repeal the ACA. After already voting to let ACA funding end, this was a purely performative vote—an attempt to salvage Van Orden’s re-election prospects that have become grimmer and grimmer.

“DC Derrick previously had multiple opportunities to vote for ACA funding, but multiple times he decided to feed the GOP chaos campaign and force Wisconsin families to start choosing between paying for their health care and their groceries. He voted for this measure simply because it would look good in an ad, not because he cares about the people he represents.”
