MILWAUKEE, WIS. (February 22, 2018) – WISN 12 will be hosting a live debate involving the candidates for Wisconsin Supreme Court on March 2, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in partnership with Marquette University Law School. Mike Gousha, Distinguished Fellow in Law and Public Policy at Marquette University Law School, WISN 12 News political analyst and host of UPFRONT, will be moderating the debate between Rebecca Dallet, a Milwaukee County Circuit judge, and Michael Screnock, a Sauk County Circuit judge, through a live broadcast on WISN 12 and a live stream on wisn.com and the 12 News Mobile App.

“This is a significant election affecting every person across the state,” says Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN 12. “Making sure our viewers are informed about the candidates in this race is critical. It’s a responsibility that we take very seriously,” adds Wade.

During the debate, Dallet and Screnock will discuss a multitude of pressing issues including judicial philosophies, professional experience, views, and heightened partisanship in an officially non-partisan race. The general election for Wisconsin Supreme Court takes place one month after the debate on April 3, 2018, filling an open court seat following the conclusion of a 10-year term by Justice Michael Gableman, who did not seek re-election. The debate will be held at Eckstein Hall, the home of Marquette University Law School.

“We are happy to be partnering with Marquette University Law School on presenting yet another important debate, moderated by WISN 12’s own Mike Gousha,” states Ben Hart, news director of WISN 12.

Due to limited space, the event will be ticketed and all seats for members of the public have been reserved.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court debate can also be seen across Wisconsin on the UPFRONT network stations including WBAY, WKOW, WAOW, WQOW and WXOW (check your local listings).
