Wisconsin Legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus Introduces 2025 Equality Agenda

MADISON – Today, after introducing the 2025 Equality Agenda to promote equality and improve safety for LGBTQ+ Wisconsinites, Wisconsin Legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus Chair State Senator Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit) released the following statement:

“From Ashland to Racine—and everywhere in between— members of the Wisconsin Legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus gathered today with legislative allies and community members to introduce our 2025 Equality Agenda to move our state forward, promote equality, and improve safety for LGBTQ+ Wisconsinites.

“From updating Wisconsin’s Constitution to recognize marriage equality, to prohibiting conversion therapy and eliminating the LGBTQ+ “panic” defense, the bills and resolutions that make up the Equality Agenda are a part of an effort to update state laws to ensure that all families and individuals are recognized, protected, and treated equally under the law. With June just days away, we are also releasing our 2025 resolution formally recognizing June as Pride Month, fostering inclusion, acceptance, and celebration in Wisconsin.

“In the face of recent attacks on LGBTQ+ Wisconsinites and the narrowing definitions of family from both the Trump Administration and Wisconsin’s legislative Republicans, it is more important than ever to stand in solidarity and to use the powers of the legislative and executive branches to protect and uplift the rights and freedoms of Wisconsin’s LGBTQ+ families and communities.

“Alongside my colleagues in the LGBTQ+ Caucus and with legislative allies from across Wisconsin, I am proud to introduce these bills, and I am grateful to those who joined us today to share why these bills are crucially important to their families and communities. Today we reaffirmed our commitment to ensuring that our state is just and equitable for all Wisconsinites and hope that our legislative colleagues will join us in supporting these important bills.”
