WBB Hosts Providence Wednesday Night
Golden Eagles wrap up two-game BIG EAST homestand
The Marquette University women’s basketball team hosts Providence on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The BIG EAST Digital Network on FloCollege features the broadcast with Bob Brainerd (play-by-play) and Chloe Marotta (analyst) on the call.
• Marquette is in its 20th campaign in the BIG EAST Conference.
• The Golden Eagles are second in the BIG EAST and 27th nationally in defensive field goal percentage (36.8 percent).
• Skylar Forbes earned her fifth BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll nod on Monday.
• Marquette is first in the BIG EAST in rebounding offense (38.2 rebounds per game) and rebound margin (+6.1 rebounding margin).
• MU is one of four teams (Indiana State, Houston and Arkansas State) to have no true or redshirt freshmen on the roster in NCAA Division I women’s college basketball.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST PROVIDENCE
• Marquette and Providence are meeting for the 33rd time on Wednesday.
• Marquette leads the all-time series, 27-5.
• The Golden Eagles have won the last 15 meetings, the second-longest winning streak against a BIG EAST opponent. MU has won 17 straight against Xavier.
• Marquette is 11-3 against the Friars at the Al McGuire Center.
FIRST MEETING THIS SEASON
• Marquette pulled away in the second half for a 67-54 road win at Providence on Jan. 22, 2025.
• Skylar Forbes led MU with 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Halle Vice (14 points) and Jaidynn Mason (13 points) were both in double-figures.
• Marquette had the largest lead of the first half when the Golden Eagles were up six early in the second quarter and went into the break down one. It was just the third time MU trailed at half on the season.
• The Golden Eagles used a 25-11 third quarter to start pulling away and led by 13 heading into the fourth, 52-39.
• The Friars got the game to within seven points early in the fourth quarter. The Golden Eagles led by as many as 15 in the final minutes.
• Skylar Forbes averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 blocks over Marquette’s two wins last week.
• The Markham, Ontario native had 11 points and nine rebounds at Seton Hall on Wednesday. She followed that up with a career-high 26 points and nine boards in the win against DePaul on Saturday.
• Forbes went 11-of-13 from the free throw line, including going 9-of-9 against DePaul.
• It was Forbes’ sixth 20-point game of the season and 12th time leading the team in scoring.
• Forbes had 19 of her 26 points in the first half.
OLIVIA CAREER DAY VS DEPAUL
• Olivia Porter scored a career-high 18 points on Saturday against DePaul and hit a career-high nine free throws on 10 attempts.
• It was Porter’s fourth double-digit scoring outing of the season and 10th of her career.
