WBB Hosts Illinois State Sunday at 2 p.m. CT
Golden Eagles going for sixth win in a row
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s basketball team hosts Illinois State on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. CT at the Al McGuire Center.

Five Golden Eagles scored in double figures for the first time this season including Lee Volker, who stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, a career-high tying eight rebounds, career-high five assists, and three steals and one block.
Marquette led wire-to-wire and were up by as many as 26 in the second half. The Golden Eagles had 22 fast break points to the Sycamores’ two.
Following Sunday’s game, Marquette stays home to host Milwaukee Sunday, Dec. 15 2 p.m. CT.

• After four road games in November, the Golden Eagles are in the middle of a three-game homestand to begin the month of December.
• Marquette has 19 3-pointers combined the last two games after having 17 through their first four games.

• The Redbirds were picked seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll.
• Graduate student Maya Wong was voted preseason second-team all-conference.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST ILLINOIS STATE
• Sunday is the sixth meeting all-time between Marquette and Illinois State.
• Marquette leads the all-time series, 3-2, and is 2-0 in games in Milwaukee.
FIVE WINS IN A ROW
• Marquette has won five in a row after dropping for the first two games of the season on the road.
• During the five game winning streak, the Golden Eagles have an average winning margin of 26.4 points per game.
DEFENSE LEADS THE WAY FOR MU
• Marquette is first in the BIG EAST and 13th in the nation in field goal percentage defense (32.9 percent) and have held opponents to under 45 percent from the floor in all seven games this season.
• MU is 30th nationally holding opponents to 54.4 points per game.
• The Golden Eagles have held opponents to under 53 points four times this season and have held teams to 10 point or less in eight quarters this season.
CRASH THE GLASS
• In Marquette’s five wins this season, the Golden Eagles have outrebounded their opponents in each contest by an average of 14.6 rebounds per game.
• A Marquette player has pulled down 6-or-more rebounds 13 times this season, led by Halle Vice who has done it four times.
SHARING THE BASKETBALL
• Marquette tied its season-high with 22 assists on 32 made baskets in Tuesday’s win over Indiana State.
• The Golden Eagles have registed 14-or-more assists in each of their five wins this season and are averaging 18.6 assists per game in their five-game winning streak.
BEYOND THE ARC
• Marquette has made 19 combined 3-pointers the last two games, including a season-high 10 in the win over Indiana State.
The Golden Eagles had 17 3-pointers made through the first four games.
BLOCK PARTY
• Marquette is first in the BIG EAST and 12th in the nation at 5.9 blocks per game.
• Skylar Forbes is first in the BIG EAST and 37th nationally with 16 blocks on the season.
• The sophomore forward is first in the conference and 24th nationally at 2.3 blocks per game and had a career-high five blocks in the road win at Rutgers on Nov. 29, 2024.
