Wangard Partners, Inc. (Wangard) has completed demolition on our most anticipated urban Milwaukee development site located at the intersection of Brady and Water Streets. Throughout the process, Wangard Partners teamed up with WasteCap in order to divert waste from the site to local landfills and achieved their goals of environmental stewardship.

Wangard Partners and WasteCap Resource Solutions partnered in a successful effort to strategically raze the existing buildings and perform the site demolition necessary to prepare the Brady & Water Street site for future re-development. The demolition effort diverted 85% of its waste from landfills, according to WasteCap Resource Solutions. Even more remarkable is that Wangard Partners plans to re-utilize salvaged materials such as a sign, a unique steel beam with trolley, a large amount of timbers, store front windows and interior doors within the future development on site. WasteCap worked in collaboration with the Milwaukee Community Service Corps to salvage metal and wood as well recycled concrete that is being utilized at Wangard Partner’s Reef Apartments development in Wauwatosa.

“Sustainability as a way of life is a core value of ours. We are not just recycling materials salvaged at Brady and Water. We’re taking this beyond recycling – we are re-using the materials to benefit our other developments. This includes utilizing the crushed concrete foundations and brick veneer from Brady and Water and re-using it for structural fill at our Reef development in Wauwatosa. It’s really of benefit when we have enough activity to complement one development with another.”

Seeking to take advantage of the convergence of two showcase urban corridors, Wangard Partners is focused on finalizing the design of the Brady and Water Street development, which will complement and enhance the classy lower eastside with the chic retail and entertainment amenities that Brady Street offers.
