Viewers Donate More than $156,000 for Hungry Families During WISN 12 ‘Food for Families’ Food Drive
Southeastern Wisconsin demonstrates deep generosity to help those in need in our area this holiday season
MILWAUKEE, WI (December 2, 2024) – The 13th annual ‘Food For Families’ holiday food drive, hosted by WISN 12 and long-time partner Hunger Task Force, has raised $156,156 to ensure local families have healthy meals during the holidays. The generous donations from WISN 12 viewers, along with corporate matching funds, equate to more than 10,400 turkeys, or 1,000 holiday meal boxes for those in need.
The 2024 ‘Food For Families’ holiday food drive took place on November 26, 2024 and November 27, 2024. During the campaign, more than 1,000 viewers submitted donations online or called in to the WISN 12 phone bank. In addition to individual contributions from across our community, local companies including Hydrite, SVA, and Zurn Elkay Water Solutions, provided corporate matching donations valued at a total of $43,000.
“The matching funds really amplified this campaign so we could make the greatest impact on people’s lives,” adds Wade. “Those companies serve as shining examples of how organizations play a critical role in bolstering our communities.”
For over a decade, WISN 12 has partnered with Hunger Task Force on this important initiative. Since launching the campaign in 2012, the ‘Food For Families’ holiday food drive has raised $1,921,739.
