Milwaukee, Wis. – June 12, 2019 – Variety – The Children’s Charity welcomes its new Director of Development, John Singer. Singer joins the executive team at Variety to spearhead the organization’s overall development plan. He will be focused on creating new, innovative campaigns and initiatives that will enhance and expand engagement with Variety’s investors and stakeholders throughout the state of Wisconsin.

Nancy Major, CEO of Variety – The Children’s Charity, Wisconsin Chapter, said, “Variety is thrilled to welcome John to our team. His visionary leadership, experience, and development expertise will enhance our efforts to broaden the footprint and impact of our mission through Wisconsin.”

A native of Manchester, England, John began his 30-year career in development while studying at the University of Chicago, where he received his BA in philosophy and MBA in strategic management. He has held several key positions in non-profit management including leadership roles at Illinois Institute of Technology, Wisconsin Historical Foundation, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Lakehead University in Ontario, and the Menninger Clinic in Houston. For the past eight years, John has run Purple Songs Can Fly, an arts-in-medicine nonprofit in Houston, which serves pediatric cancer patients at Texas Children’s Hospital through a variety of songwriting and recording programs.

Variety – The Children’s Charity of Wisconsin’s mission is “Enriching the lives of children with physical or developmental special needs and their families.” Variety believes that ALL children deserve the opportunity to pursue a limitless future and works to inspire children to discover life without limits. The state-wide organization is headquartered in Elm Grove, Wis.
